About Community Hands
Community Hands is a nonprofit dedicated to feeding the hungry and empowering our neighbors in southeast Michigan. What began nearly twenty years ago as the Community Christian Church Food Pantry — faithfully operated by dedicated church volunteers who contributed hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours — has grown into one of the largest food pantries in the region. Today, we serve thousands of families each month, distributing millions of pounds of fresh food and groceries annually.
In 2026, we established Community Hands, Inc. as an independent 501(c)(3) to expand our reach and impact. While remaining deeply rooted in our partnership with Community Christian Church, this new structure allows us to engage more broadly with donors, businesses, and grantmakers.
Looking forward, Community Hands has a bold vision to evolve from an emergency food pantry into a comprehensive Community Care Center. We will offer holistic support for body, mind, and spirit in a significantly expanded facility — helping those we serve build a strong foundation to rise and become servant leaders who pay it forward.

Compassionate Service: We provide free, dignified emergency food assistance to all in need, without judgment.
Holistic Care: We address the whole person — body, mind, and spirit — moving beyond food distribution to offer meaningful support and hope.
Servant Leadership: We believe in “hand up” ministry. We help those we serve build a strong foundation so they can rise and serve others.
Faithful Stewardship: We manage every resource with integrity, excellence, and gratitude, honoring God and those who generously give.
Community Partnership: We work in close partnership with Community Christian Church and like-minded organizations to maximize impact in southeast Michigan.
Hope and Transformation: We are committed to long-term transformation — helping individuals and families move from dependency to dignity and generosity.
